FEED 5,000: EVANGELISM IN AFRICA
- A) Central African Republic EHC: Mboko village is a large churchless community where Christians need to travel long distances elsewhere to attend church worship. The EHC team hopes to set up a church there. Please pray for the smooth completion of the building works so they can begin to nurture and equip believers soon and spread the Gospel far and wide.
- B) Namibia EHC: The EHC team organized open-air rallies at two very old tribal settlements of the Himba people in the hope of transforming their lives. The tribal people still follow an ancient and primitive way of life, and it is hoped that the Gospel will help them break free from the chains of their old ancestral beliefs and find God, so they too can become a lively community of believers in the Lord.
- C) Niger EHC: The political coup in this country led to turmoil and social instability, and outreach work in many areas had to stop due to security and safety concerns. However, the EHC team fearlessly persevered and launched their summer evangelism plans. Pray for God to turn hearts towards the Gospel and watch over the footsteps of the co-workers.
CCIS FUNDRAISING AND UPDATES
Paul’s life experienced a complete turnaround because of the Gospel, and he changed from being an opponent of the Lord to one of His greatest evangelists. Likewise, we have transformed and grown in Christ because of the Gospel and ought to spread it to the rest of the world (Colossians 1:21-23). Pray for the love of Christ to compel our brethren and churches to put in their utmost for the Gospel before the return of the Lord. The CCIS committee is currently focusing on preparations for the fundraising movie premiere of “Sight” on 29 July (Monday), 7.30pm at Lido theatre. 500 seats are available at S$20 per ticket (additional love offerings on top of the ticket price are welcome). The committee hopes to also invite members of the medical community to attend. Apart from raising funds for CCIS, we hope to garner greater support for its annual celebrations. Pray for more brethren, churches, and Christian businesses to lend us their generous support and come together to prosper the Gospel. CCIS would also be printing 20,000 of the tract “What If There Were No Christmas” to help promote this year’s celebrations.
CREATIVE ACCESS REGION EVANGELISM – LEADING THEM TO GOD’S KINGDOM
Country E is well-known for resisting the Gospel and the EHC team has to tread carefully when conducting discipleship classes for local churches. Please pray for the believers to have timely and sufficient supplies of gospel materials, and for God to protect their safety on their journeys.
Pressure tactics from law enforcement in Country H have thwarted the progress of evangelism to a considerable degree. A sister in Christ was interrogated harshly for evangelizing, and some servants of God were made to wear electronic tracking tags to monitor their movement. The police would even beat up outreach co-workers openly in the streets as a form of deterrence against those who seek to spread the Gospel, but the EHC team overcame all these by relying on the grace of the Lord. Pray for the Lord to watch over His people and stop the hostile forces who oppose and persecute them.
Pray for the co-workers of Country A to be free from contagious diseases as they travel across their country to spread the Gospel and for their ministry to be uninterrupted. Pray also for peace upon their families so they can go forth without worry to evangelize and to nurture new believers for Christ. Finally, pray for all hearts there to be touched and turn towards God.
SEHC MINISTRY UPDATES FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT
- Prayer Times: The PT contains encouraging messages, testimonies, and updates from local and overseas harvest fields, together with news of our ministries and daily prayer requests. We hope you can share it with at least one other brethren each month. We also encourage younger readers who are digitally savvy to opt for the electronic version for cost effectiveness.
- Spiritual Books: SEHC gifted 386 books to churches and brethren from January to April this year. This number is a close reflection of the reading habits of our local brethren, which has gone down compared to the past. It is good for Christians to read more to edify their faith and equip themselves in the knowledge of God’s word, so they are able to readily share the Gospel with others anytime. When the apostle Paul was in prison, he too continued to read a lot (2 Timothy 4:13). Pray for the Lord to help believers develop this good habit and recommending more of SEHC’s books to other brethren.
“THE BEST BLESSING” IN JAPANESE – EVANGELIZING IN YOUR TRAVELS
| Japan remains a popular tourist destination for Singaporeans with its entrancing scenery and delicious cuisine. The weakened Japanese Yen is also a strong pull factor even for Christians. However, due to its historical and cultural background, Japan continues to be hard soil for the Gospel and their Christian community makes up no more than 2% of their total population despite the Gospel having entered Japan for more than 400 years. We call upon all brethren who will be holidaying in Japan to make use of the “The Best Blessing” booklet to share the Gospel with the service personnel and other locals they meet there. Our Oikos volunteers were there on a mission trip with Trans World Radio this March and gave out 30,000 tracts sponsored by EHC Japan in the short span of a week, including those that were dropped into mailboxes of homes. EHC Japan is able to provide tracts and booklets for brethren who are keen to help reach out to the Japanese people. Please arrange with them in advance through our office if you are interested. | ![]() |
“FOOTSTEPS OF A MISSIONARY” AND “DAILY TIMELY MANNA” – KNOW GOD’S WORD BETTER
Rev. Hsueh Yu Kwong wrote the first book as a guide for pioneering evangelism in new harvest fields. It is a practical guide based on real live experience of what is needed in the process of trailblazing and offers readers a glimpse into a faithful servant’s heart. The book is the culmination of his understanding of the subject gleaned from teaching, training, travelling, missions, observations, experiences, thoughts, and inspirations. The latter book was written by Elder Samuel Ching, containing selected verses from Psalm 106 to the book of Job, and from Genesis to chapter 16 of the book of Judges. Each verse is accompanied by a short message which the author hopes to help readers experience the abundance of God’s word one day at a time. All enquiries are welcome.
“FUNDAMENTALS OF TRUTH” AND “THOUGHTS OF THE BIBLE CHARACTERS” – DEEPENING YOUR UNDERSTANDING
The first book written by Rev. Dr. Joseph Tong has twelve chapters that summarizes the key truths of the Bible for readers so they can easily grasp the essentials of faith. Every chapter begins with a verse of scripture which the author explains in detail to help readers gain a deeper understanding of its teachings. The latter book by Dr. James Yu explores monologues by biblical characters, expressing their inner thoughts. The featured characters include Noah, Abraham, Moses, King Saul, King David, and John the Baptist. The books retail at S$3 and S$5 respectively. All orders are welcome.
