FEED 5,000: EVANGELISM IN AFRICA
- A) EHC Burundi: “Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news” (Nahum 1:15), such a beautiful scene adequately describes the work of our volunteers who reach out to pagan believers in the mountain towns. Pray for them to receive courage and wisdom to touch the unsaved so they too will come to know the grace and salvation from Christ.
- B) EHC Rwanda: The rainy season made travelling and outreach difficult and had a significant impact on the gospel ministry. However, no weather can douse the co-workers’ passion for evangelism and they continued to spread the Gospel and nurture disciples of the Lord everywhere they go.
- C) EHC Eritrea: The nine states of this country each have their own unique language and culture, but none of them had bibles that were translated to their native language. The team thus stepped forward to collaborate with Wycliffe Bible Translators to translate versions that were in their respective languages. Please pray for the translation work and for the Gospel to reach the pre-believers speedily.
VISION FOR CCIS 2024
How time flies! CCIS has entered its 20th year of ministry, and we are thankful for the Lord’s leading and the support and collaboration of the churches and brethren in these past years for the Gospel mission. As with previous years, the committee has already begun to plan and prepare for this year’s event and fundraising dinner, and we hope to raise a total of S$400K. A lot of the event expenses are expected to be higher this time due to inflation, in addition to the arrears from past years that we are still repaying, making it even more challenging for the ministry to raise enough funds. The committee also hopes to bring in new blood this year to share the burden of the ministry and lead the celebrations to new heights. Please continue to pray for and support us.
EVANGELISM IN CREATIVE ACCESS REGIONS – OBSTACLES AND OUTCOMES
Country M’s team asked for prayers for the natives in their country so stronger trust can be built with them for the sake of the Gospel. Pray for peaceful engagement. Pray for them to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3) so all the brethren supporting their ministry can be of one heart to sow the seeds of the Gospel in empty hearts.
Country V’s team plans to go to the site of a recent natural disaster to comfort and evangelize to the victims who have lost their homes and loved ones. Pray for the love of Christ to envelope those scarred lands and comfort the suffering refugees, and help them to rediscover hope in His salvation and grace.
Country E’s unsaved are many, and most have closed their hearts to the Gospel due to pagan beliefs. Pray for God to open the way to a new harvest field amongst them and tear down the barrier in their hearts that block the Gospel so that many can come to Christ. Pray also for the volunteers who serve alongside the co-workers to experience God’s protection when they meet with danger during outreach, and for them to have strength of will and be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves to tackle all sorts of challenges.
BRO. YU JIADE’S SCRIPTURE CALLIGRAPHY AND PAINTINGS
| China’s elderly Bro. Yu Jiade is a renowned Christian calligrapher who had created many Chinese calligraphy and painting masterpieces for SEHC in the past 20 years. Many of his beautiful works adorn Christian homes and offices as testimonies for God’s grace to their visitors. Bro. Yu has slowed down on his output nowadays as he is close to 90 years old now. Not too long ago, a pastor who loved Bro. Yu’s calligraphy asked him to write several calligraphy pieces based on Psalm 91. The pastor put them up in beautiful frames to display Bro. Yu’s powerful strokes which brought the Psalm to life, edifying all who viewed it. SEHC still has some previous works of Bro. Yu in stock, and we welcome brethren who enjoy calligraphy and Chinese paintings to enquire on their purchase. You can also opt for them to be framed for an additional cost. | ![]() |
“FROM DOUBT TO FAITH” – LEADING THE DOUBTFUL INTO TRUE FAITH
![]() |
Many non-believers and even new believers are overwhelmed by the message of the Gospel because of their past religious beliefs. How then can Christians help them to resolve their doubt and concerns? Rev. Dr. Sang Anzhu’s “From Doubt to Faith” discusses 12 topics that can offer more insight for them, such as: Is there really a God? Why do we worship in church? Is the Theory of Evolution Reliable? How Do I Find God? And Questions about the soul. He provides many inspiring pieces of evidence and examples to guide readers towards understanding the way of the Lord and answer their doubts. A brother in Christ recently bought 90 copies to give to foreign nurses working here. If you have friends who are interested in Christianity or have doubts about their faith, we encourage you to purchase this book to help them know the true God. The book retails at SEHC bookroom for S$3 a copy and we welcome all orders and purchases. |
“WATCHMEN OF THE LORD” AND “GOOD NEWS FOR YOU” – BRING THE GOOD NEWS INTO YOUR LIFE
Rev. Dr. Dick Eastman and Ben Phil co-authored the first book to equip intercessors and believers in powerful prayer, so they can bring the kingdom of Christ to their communities and shield it within the wall of prayer put up by countless intercessors around the world. The latter book was illustrated by a sister in Christ and explains how sin separated us from God and led to death, and the Good News that God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins on the cross, so that those who believed in Him will not perish but receive eternal life (John 3:16). Please pray for them to be of good use to the Lord’s ministry.
“HOLDING HANDS FOR A LIFETIME” AND “GOSPEL Q&A” – ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT FAITH
The first book was co-authored by Dr. and Mrs. Peter Liu and looks at marriage from the Bible’s lens. The path of marriage is often filled with blood and tears, and in the book, we would witness how an ordinary couple relied on God’s grace to find their way out of the valley of tears through the Bible, overcoming attempted suicide and divorce to become the loving couple they are today. The latter book by Elder Samuel Ching picks out common questions posed by believers when they study the 4 Gospels and offers answers to help readers dive deeper into understanding God’s word, equipping them with stronger faith. Both of these books are ideal for new believers, please pray for their use.
“A WORD FOR PREACHERS” AND “DAILY SPRING IN THE LORD” – DEVOTIONAL TREASURE TROVES
Rev. Hsueh Yu Kwong’s book is a compilation of his published essays and articles. The messages express his heartfelt advice for theology students and pastoral co-workers, encouraging them to put their faith to practice for the Gospel. From his writings, we can see that he modelled his life on the examples of John the Baptist, the Lord Jesus Christ, and Paul the apostle. The latter book written by Elder Samuel Ching aims to help Christians build a strong devotional life. The book contains 365 short essays based on selected verses from the New Testament and the first 105 psalms to guide readers through each day of the year, one verse a day. These books are suitable for brethren who have accepted Christ. Please pray for their effective use.
“BLESSINGS AND CURSES” AND “FAITH ON TRIAL” – SECRETS TO BLESSEDNESS
The first book is a collection of Ps. Silas Wu’s many years of pastoral experience in which he systematically defined and described the spiritual significance of blessings and curses. Topics within include The Secret to Become Blessed, The Source of Curses, and Partaking in Blessings. Dr. David Liang wrote the latter book which focuses on apologetics. He referenced many authoritative Christian publications and scholastic essays in the process of authoring this book to ensure that it draws upon authentic faith to present accurate perspectives. The rich content and smooth reading flow make this book an excellent tool for sharing the Gospel.
