FEED 5,000 - EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Mauritius: The EHC team in this prosperous island nation in the Indian Ocean worked hard to spread the Gospel and nurture the Lord’s disciples. We hope for more islanders to receive Christ and experience salvation and God’s merciful love, growing in faith to become wise and brave witnesses of Christ. We pray for them to partner with the EHC team so that many more people will know and receive Jesus, transforming their lives to become soldiers of the Gospel.
  2. B) EHC Burkina Faso: Extremists have taken over many villages and launch a series of terror attacks. Ordinary people were badly affected and forced to flee their homes. Pray for the Lord to watch over the civilians and stop the murdering of innocents. Many new believers have demonstrated courageous faith, joining hands with the EHC co-workers to help the refugees and share the Gospel with them so they can rediscover hope and sanctuary in Christ.
  3. C) EHC Namibia: The EHC team collaborated with a husband-and-wife pair of doctors with plans to evangelise at a local hospital. Pray for the Lord to touch the hospital leaders to approve their request so that many patients will get to hear the Gospel and come to know the great healer of our souls, Jesus Christ, and allow the joy of salvation to relief their physical suffering.

CCIS PREPARATIONS AND FUNDRAISING

The past celebrations at Orchard Road conveyed the beautiful news of Jesus’ birth to the masses through the songs, performances and activities delivered by local and overseas ministry groups in the joyous festive atmosphere. Joy to the world, the Lord is come! What wonderful memories!

Since the pandemic happened, CCIS and our partners have longed for a return to Orchard Road. By God’s grace, the pandemic has finally stabilized, but we still need the generous support of the churches and brethren to raise sufficient funds to meet the event budget of $400,000. Our current funds stand at only $20,000 and to meet the massive budget, the committee will be organising a fundraising dinner on 04 September, together with appeal letters and other means to raise the budget.

Please pray for us and also generously support the event. The committee is also in ongoing talks with our overseas partners about the programme plans and hope to confirm it soon so that we can arrange the performances and hospitality. We are also working with our partner organisations for the gospel booths and social service booths on how they will align their booths with the event theme. Pray for God to bless everyone’s hard work and use the co-labour of the churches and brethren to make this year’s celebration a success, so we can sing of Christ’s salvation and shine His light into the darkest hearts.

SEHC IS LOOKING FOR A SECOND-HAND GOSPEL VAN

SEHC’s gospel van had been in use for 20 years and will need to be scrapped next may. Due to its age, the van also needs frequent maintenance and repairs which are expensive and only fixes problems for a short while, taking a toll on our ministry funds. Thus, it is with great urgency that we are looking for a second-hand replacement. We appeal to the churches and brethren to lend us a hand by supporting the purchase with love offerings or to sell us a reasonably new second-hand van at a discounted price. The current van had served us well over the years in delivering both goods and passengers and is sometimes loaned to churches for transport. We pray for your generous support and for the Lord’s abundant blessings to be upon you for your help.

CHURCH PLANTING AND DISCIPLESHIP IN CREATIVE ACCESS REGIONS

The EHC team in Country S used literary materials to spread the Gospel in this nation where the Gospel is restricted and could hardly reach anyone. The power of the printed word should not be underestimated. The team is looking forward to using their new gospel booklet to bring even more people who were lingering outside salvation’s gate to come and reconcile with God through Christ. Despite being situated in a turbulent and unstable society, the EHC team in Country U continues to strive for the salvation of the unsaved and to nurture new believers into Christ’s disciples. May the Lord’s peace follow their footsteps and may the gates of the Gospel be always open for them to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ. Country F is a multi-cultural nation where obstacles to evangelism are plenty. The country has seven main regions, each with its own unique culture, world views, education system, and religious beliefs, and the different people stayed away from one another. Pray for the Gospel to soften hardened hearts and retake them for the one true God, so that the ministry here can bear a multitude of fruit for God.

“BLESSINGS AND CURSES” – SHARING A GOOD READ

We all want blessings, and God is willing to bless us. Many blessings can be found throughout the Bible, including peace, joy, abundant life, and others, but what about in real life? It seems quite the opposite, with unemployment, financial hardship, fear, worry, broken marriages, rebellious children and other troubles surrounding us at every turn. Even the children of God are not exempt from these misfortunes. What went wrong? How can we truly claim God’s blessings?

Thanks be to God, His good servant Bro. Silas Wu, with many years of pastoral experience, wrote the book “Blessings and Curses” to systematically show us the spiritual meaning behind both. The book points us to the spiritual wisdom shown by those who were blessed, and those who foolishly attracted curses with their sins, offering to us spiritual lessons on how to avoid making the wrong choices. The book is written in the common man’s language easily understood by all and is extremely engrossing to read, and is a valuable spiritual guide for self-development and passing on to bless a friend. We welcome both orders and walk-in purchases at our bookroom.

“THE FIRSTBORN RIGHTS” AND “44 MIRACLES OF JESUS” – GROWING IN GOD’S WORD

The first book, by Rev. Joseph Tong explores the concept of the firstborn in the Bible. Anyone who was chosen, anointed, and recognised by God can be said to have the name of the firstborn. The book consists of 5 chapters including the basis of Jesus’ firstborn name, and how He was the perfect role model of a firstborn. The latter book was written by Elder Samuel Ching and is a compilation of Jesus’ miracles. The author explains the meaning behind each miracle and its spiritual teachings so that believers will know more about the abundance of Christ. Both books are ideal for fellow Christians. Pray for the Lord to use them.

“THE HOUR THAT CHANGES THE WORLD” AND “TORCH OF THE TESTIMONY” – LET CHRIST ENTER YOUR WORLD

The first book was written by Rev. Dick Eastman and emphasizes the impact of prayer on our world. Prayer does not just change our lives, but also spreads God’s love across the world. The author also cites examples from the lives of famous persons of faith such as Walter Henry Judd to demonstrate the power of prayer to readers. The latter book, by John W. Kennedy, was translated by Dr. Peter Liu. This is a book about the lives of Christians who practiced outside of tradition and the 2,000 years of church spiritual history. The author hopes readers would consider what God had done in the last two millennia and the meaning of the 21st century to Christians. Pray for these books to be used by Him to edify many.
