FEED 5,000 – EVANGELISM IN AFRICA

  1. A) EHC Cameroon: The team reached out to 3 villages in the northern Lagdo province and led 105 new believers to know Christ. Thanks be to God. Volunteers have been continuing with their weekly door-to-door tract outreach. Pray for their team to reach more unsaved souls and to nurture the new believers to grow strong in the Lord.
  2. B) EHC Rwanda: The UN General Assembly designated the 7th of April as the International Day of Reflection for the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994. This savage page of history left a terrible and indelible mark in the lives of many who lost their loved ones in the massacre and pains them to this day. During the commemoration period, EHC Rwanda reached out to the survivors to share the gospel of forgiveness with them. Please pray with us that the love of Christ and the forgiveness of sin will enable them to be released from the lingering grief and hate that causes them endless suffering.
  3. C) EHC Cote d’Ivoire: The team will be training, developing, and mobilizing co-workers from partner churches to reach out in mass evangelism to the unsaved. Pray for the power of the Gospel to break through Satan’s fortresses and win back hearts for the Lord and bring eternal salvation to many.

PREPARATIONS AND FUNDRAISING FOR CCIS

The glorious king Jesus Christ was born in a lowly manger, and rode on a simple donkey towards the start of His suffering in humility. Four days later, He was on His way to the cross as the Lamb of God to be sacrificed for the redemption of the world’s sins. Children of God ought to emulate His humility and work in unity to spread His glorious Gospel (1 Timothy 1:11) to the people of the whole world. CCIS at Orchard Road this year is another opportunity from God to spread the Gospel, and we hope for the churches and brethren’s support to meet the funding for the budgeted needs. The budget this year is S$400,000 but our reserves currently stand at only S$20,000, thus fundraising is urgently needed. The fundraising dinner will be held on 04 September (Mon) with 20 tables at S$2,000 each. Besides the fundraising dinner, we commit to the Lord’s further provision through the generosity of churches and brethren, and corporate benefactors touched by the Lord. Please pray for the grace of Jehovah Jireh, our Lord Provider. We are in discussion with overseas groups for the programmes including ministries from Sri Lanka, South Africa, and an African children’s choir. Also being processed are the application for approved use of the premises and the setting up of stages and booths. We would like to call upon churches and fellow believers to work towards this vision with us in our respective roles, and together we shall proclaim the wonderful Good News of Christ’s birth to the masses who visit Orchard Road this Christmas.

GHANA PARTNERS TEAM FOLLOWS UP UNFINISHED MINISTRY IN WINNEBA IHLS

The team was back in Winneba to continue their unfinished evangelism work from February. The target audience included over a million undergraduates here. Winneba used to be a Christian town, but as the population depended on the sea for their livelihoods, many had turned to worshipping the sea god. Many students were influenced by their lecturers’ views and turned towards extremist traditional attitudes, and even some strong Christians were affected and distanced themselves from God. The team called on the student leaders of the respective institutions with the help of a passionate Christian professor and a deputy tribal chief. In three weeks, they visited several student hostels, villages, and towns to give out the “Who Is God” tract at crowded places. Apart from the problematic transport, the team also had to deal with the swarms of mosquitoes in the summer heat, with a very real risk of getting infected with dengue fever. Despite the difficulties, the harvest was bountiful. The number of students who responded to the gospel call and accepted Christ was estimated to be at over 180,000, while other locals from the community numbered more than 60,000. Thanks be to God! The students among the new believers were divided into 6 groups led by 8 cell group leaders who would be in charge of organising their weekly worship sessions. New believers from the community were referred to local churches to follow up on their pastoring and spiritual development. The team hopes the collaboration with local churches would rekindle their passion for evangelism, so that after the team leaves, the churches would take over the spreading of the Gospel and lead more people in Winneba to Christ. Many thanks to the God-loving church elder couple for their sponsorship of the tract printing. Their partnership have enabled the team to spread the Good News and lead many to know Christ. To God be the glory!

“A LIFE OF HAPPINESS” – LEADING THE WAY TO DISCOVER TRUE HAPPINESS

What exactly is happiness? Is it immense wealth that allows one to spend freely without concern and enjoy life to one’s utmost satisfaction? If that were the case, many extremely rich individuals would not have taken their own lives. This shows us that happiness does not necessarily entail a luxurious material lifestyle. Dr. James Yu, the author, offers a simple explanation to what happiness is, and where it can be found. He also hits the nail on the head about the real reason many could not discover their happiness – sin. The only solution to this problem is Jesus Christ. In Christ, the issue of sin is resolved, and our hearts would find true peace, which eventually leads to real happiness. Since its initial publication, this tract has had close to 2 million printed, with another 20,000 on the way. We hope you too would use it to help the dejected people around you to find happiness and satisfaction, introducing them to know Christ and discover eternal blessings and happiness. For this, you too shall be filled with overflowing joy in the Lord (Romans 15:13).

CREATIVE ACCESS REGION EHC BRANCHES PLANT CHURCHES AND NURTURE NEW BELIEVERS AMIDST PERSECUTION

EHC team in Country E overcame many obstacles to spread the Gospel and lately, the Lord opened the way for them to set up a church in a major city. Hopefully, this would establish a foundation for evangelistic outreach in the region and help with pastoring and nurturing new believers to grow in Christ. Pray that by the power of God and the testimonies of life, they would also be able to inspire the locals of that community to come to know Christ and become citizens of heaven.Christians in Country N faced oppression from extreme bias within their own families, discrimination and exclusion at work, and national policies in which open worship and fellowships are banned, along with many other restrictions on Christians. Pray for them to not be moved by these challenges and remain steadfast in their faith in the Lord, continuing to do God’s work with perseverance.Co-workers of Country S hopes the churches would put greater emphasis on nurturing new believers in discipleship and collaborate closely with the EHC team to enhance the ministry to deliver Bible study classes and guide believers in Christian living. The current cohort of discipleship students are devoted to learning how to serve the Lord as His disciples and brave ambassadors of the Gospel.

“THE MAN GOD USES” – SHARING AN EDIFYING READ

The author, Dr. Oswald J. Smith, was a renowned pastor, hymnist, evangelist, and mission planner of this century. In this book, Dr. Smith talks about how soul-winning is the most important work that we can do for God. As followers of Jesus Christ, we have but one great aim – to advance God’s Kingdom here on earth.

God has clearly stated that every servant of His should bear fruit (John 15:16). Christians have a duty to go within the masses and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ the Saviour, so that people may know Him and receive forgiveness of sins and not perish.

Dr Smith also warns that unless we go and witness to others, we ourselves will grow cold and indifferent. Although we may feel lacking in talent, there is always something definite that we can do for the Lord – visit the sick, distribute gospel tracts, testify, or engage in personal evangelism.

SEHC is currently giving away free copies of this inspiring book. Come and grab a copy while stocks last.
